Blue Hand projects
A Capespan Exporter Table Grape Farm Initiative in De Doorns received a donation from the Foundation supporting their needy community food aid hamper project in the De Doorns Orchards/Stofland township settlements. A donation was made to the Elgin Foundation Trust (Grabouw – a primary pome production region), who have partnered with a number of local grass root level community projects to distribute meals and food hampers to most needy members in the community during Covid19 and to continue doing so in the immediate future. In addition to this Blue Hand will endeavour to make delivery of some citrus fruit possible to this area during the Winter months to supplement the existing donated supply of apples by local pome producers in the region.
A quantity of Local Fruit was procured via Capespan NOVO packhouse for distribution amongst needy township schools to supplement the food distribution programmes to primary and secondary school learners, which was continued by Western Cape Education Department despite schools being closed due to Covid-19 lockdown.
The NGC Social development Trust has paid over a Covid19 food relief donation to KaapAgri (Aussenkehr) on behalf of NGC Farm, to provide food hampers to NGC Farm Seasonal workers who are living in the informal village and not able to earn enough wages yet or unable to return home, due to Covid19 lockdown. Water coupons were also made available to beneficiaries, which are based on a verifiable name list.
