Capespan supports a number of community initiatives

In addition to its South-African activities, Capespan established the Namibia Grape Company Social Development Trust in partnership with the Namibia Grape Company (NGC) in 2009, with the primary objective of the Trust to uplift and benefit the employees of the Namibia Grape Company and the surrounding community in the Aussenkehr region.

In line with the Trust’s objectives, a pre-school educational resource centre was constructed for the benefit of NGC farm employees’ children.

A successful funding partnership between shipping company, Maersk Line and the NGC Social Development Trust, ensured fast progress on this project. Construction commenced during the first week of August 2009 and construction of the 120m2 facility has been completed during the second week of October 2009. On 31 October 2009, the NGC Social Development trust did an official handover of both the Pre-school facility to the farm worker community and an emergency vehicle to the Namibian Minister of Health, Dr Richard Kamwi.
