Capespan joins British Tomato Week celebration at Co-operative Group Food Stores ( Tuesday 03 June 2008 )  Customers at the Co-operative Group food stores celebrated British Tomato Week during the week 18 to 25 May 2008, along with growers and key salad suppliers, which included Capespan. At selected stores across the country, customers were able to sample the wide range of tomatoes including classic round, aranca, elegance, piccolo and new to the range Sunstream. David Robertson, of Capespan UK confirmed "The Co-operative group and its supply base fully support British growers. We are all keen to show that customers can buy British with confidence". Carla Mills, Category Buyer for Salads advised "We want to let our customers know that when looking for the best tomatoes, choosing fresh, home-grown tomatoes at the Co-operative is a great choice. Our customers strongly support both local and seasonal produce, and have told us they want British tomatoes where possible. We believe our range not only fulfils our customers' needs but includes the best tasting tomatoes available. We have also seen a shift towards premium on the vine types and our British growers have responded by growing a fantastic selection of different varieties, all with their own unique flavour.
