Looking Peachy ( Friday 06 November 2009 )
Western Cape weather has been conducive to excellent peach and nectarine development. Capespan Exports stone fruit technical manager Michiel Bester thought the general condition of peach and nectarine orchards looked extremely healthy with much lower levels of curly leaf observed than last year. He anticipated a good crop. At this stage the season start is still predicted at 10 days earlier than last year with the first export fruit expected in week 43. Apricots are approximately one week earlier than last year. A normal crop is still on the cards. For plums, indications point to a season that’s about 7 days earlier than last year. If all goes well, the crop should be normal. « Back
