Organic grape success for US imports from South Africa ( Friday 27 March 2009 )

Organic grape success for US imports from South Africa While Mother Nature certainly has a role to play in fruit quality, it is the use of new packaging materials and techniques that have been identified as making a major difference in fruit condition upon arrival. As a pioneer of offshore organic grapes since 2006, Fisher Capespan has been closely working with its South African suppliers over that time to constantly improve the arrival and storage condition of product, as this has been a constant customer concern. This year, all the hard work has paid off, with fruit arriving in the finest condition ever.

While Mother Nature certainly has a role to play in fruit quality, it is the use of new packaging materials and techniques that have been identified as making a major difference in fruit condition upon arrival. The stems are much greener, berries crisper and condition problems almost non existent. All of this is of course good news to the retailer and end consumer. Retailers now have a product that looks attractive on shelf, and will draw consumers because the fresh look now matches the organic promise!
