Waltham Cross
Appearance: It has medium-sized berries with a long-oval shape, green-yellow in colour.
Harvested: It is a mid-season white grape, harvested in mid-February. Owner of variety: Waltham Cross has been cultivated in South Africa since 1910. It is an Eastern cultivar which spread to the West via Beirut. It was imported to South Africa from Waltham Cross in England. Improved clones were released in the 1970's.
It is known as Dattier de Beyrouth in the Middle East, Rosaki in France and Spain, and Regina in Italy.
Taste and texture: The taste is sweet and juicy. |
