La Rochelle

Appearance: The berries are round, medium-sized and blue-black in colour with cylindrical bunches.

Harvested: It is an early black cultivar, harvested from mid-January.

Owner of variety: La Rochelle originated in South Africa and was selected by the V.O.R.I. from a cross between Barlinka and Alphonse Lavallée. It was released in 1986.

Taste and texture: The taste is sweet.
